Welcome Stranger is a multi-award winning Fish & Chip Restaurant and Takeaway situated in the pretty village of Lanivet on the outskirts of Bodmin. The entrance has parking to the front and a ramp for wheelchair access and the outside terrace area is a profusion of flower tubs in the summer with a number of tables and umbrellas. Internally, the restaurant is divided into a bright and airy conservatory which leads through to the main restaurant. Eating areas are modern, immaculately clean and tastefully decorated, and the staff are helpful and friendly. Families are most welcome with colouring activities provided for children whose delightful artwork decorates the walls.
All food is freshly prepared and gluten free diners are well catered for with an extensive separate GF menu. The fish is MSC Certified which means it all comes from sustainable sources. The tempting choice of GF dishes includes fish and chips (cod, plaice or haddock), jacket potatoes with a choice of fillings, omelettes, various salads and a choice of sides. Delicious GF desserts, including apple crumble, ice creams, and pineapple or banana fritters are available or choose from the daily desserts board offering such treats as homemade pavlova or chocolate brownies.
If any of the diners is a coeliac a boat is placed on the table to ensure that your server is fully aware. All GF food is cooked in a dedicated fryer used only to prepare GF products. The GF batter is also dairy free and rapeseed oil is used in the frying process. If you require further reassurance the knowledgeable staff are more than happy to answer any questions you may have.
