After standing empty and neglected for two years, in April 2015 the White Horse was acquired by Everards Brewery and taken over by hosts Eileen and Ken who have transformed it into a popular community pub much loved by locals and visitors alike. The spacious interior is warm and inviting with rich wood panelling and flooring, period fireplaces, sumptuous leather sofas, wingback armchairs and mellow candle light. There is a wealth of traditional features decorating the cosy intimate areas throughout the pub and interesting pictures and artefacts adorn the walls. Books, newspapers and board games are provided and toys for the younger ones. A baby changing area is available too. Take a look at their Facebook page for dates for Live music and quizzes. You’ll also find a piano and vintage record player at The White horse to encourage visitors to join in and embrace the community spirit. In addition there is a colourful rear courtyard area to enjoy during the warmer months.
The seasonal menus offer a great variety including All-Day Brunch, Light Bites & Sharers, Build Your Basket Meal, Sandwiches & Toasties, Traditional Pub Favourites, Sunday Lunch, irresistible Desserts and Lunchtime Senior Specials. Those with dietary requirements (including gluten free and vegetarian) are also well catered for and a separate gluten free menu is provided. GF options include Nacho Stack (small or sharer), Sauté Garlic Mushrooms on warm toast with salad, Doorstep and Toasted Sandwiches with choice of filling, Traditional Ploughman’s Lunch, Jacket Potatoes with choice of filling and salad, Basket Meal, and irresistible Desserts such as Chocolate Fudge Cake or Syrup Sponge served with ice cream or custard. A GF traditional Sunday lunch is also available (24 hours notice required please). Dishes can also be adapted on request. The friendly and knowledgeable staff are more than happy to answer any questions regarding food preparation and ingredients and to advise on menu choice.
To complement your wonderful dining experience at the White Horse there is an extensive drinks list which offers GF cask ales supplied by the Little Ox Brewery in Witney.
