With over 300 years of history, this former stone-built coaching inn has been beautifully refurbished to provide excellent food and accommodation while retaining its unique character and charm.
Interior features include a gleaming wood panelled bar and impressive inglenook fireplace with cosy log burner. The light and spacious dining area overlooks the delightful patio and family/pet friendly lawned garden with ample seating from which to relax and enjoy the spectacular view across to Simonside Hills, set in Northumberland’s National Park.
The Three Wheat Heads has deservedly gained a reputation for its excellent cuisine using fresh, locally sourced produce whenever possible. The menu also caters for those wishing to eat gluten free and the friendly and knowledgeable staff are more than happy to answer any questions you may have regarding food preparation. GF starters offer Pan Fried King Prawns with Garlic & Chilli served with herb rice. Among GF Mains are Fillet or Sirloin Steak with a traditional grill garnish; Asparagus & Green pea Risotto glazed with Buffalo Mozzarella; Vegetable, Mushroom & Feta Sparange Theodora. The Salad menu includes tasty GF options too, such as Pan Fried Chicken Breast with sun-dried tomatoes; Dressed Crab and Melon; Honey Mustard Ham & Pineapple; Prawns with a rich Marie Rose sauce. All salads are served with a choice of chips or new potatoes.
