“A hidden gem tucked down Friars Street in the attractive town of Sudbury, Suffolk.”
This delightful vintage style tea room is a wonderful experience not to be missed. The moment you step inside you are transported to a time gone by where 1940s music plays softly in the background, pastel-coloured bunting hangs from the ceiling, and gaily decorated china tea cups and teapots fill the shelves, all perfectly designed to create a homely and welcoming ambience.
Open for breakfasts, morning snacks, lunch and afternoon tea, dishes at The Strawberry Teapot are made with locally sourced ingredients where possible. Gluten free and vegetarian options are available as standard. An impressive choice of gluten free homemade cakes and scones are displayed on a dresser (with non gluten-free items kept separately at the counter by the kitchen). Having a daughter with a gluten allergy, the owner, Amanda, is acutely aware of the problems facing those with special dietary needs.
Gluten free breakfast options to accompany eggs or mushrooms include toasted fruit bread and pancakes. Light lunches offer tasty salads, baked potatoes, deli rolls and paninis. Gluten free sandwiches are available made with sourdough bread.
Ice cream sundaes are served in vintage style glass dishes and tea and coffee lovers are well catered for with the highest quality loose leaf tea (including organic gunpowder green tea and Earl Grey with orange blossom) and cafetiere single estate coffee is served alongside Sudbury’s own Marimba hot chocolate.
