The Strange Catch Fish & Chip shop is located close to the seafront in this popular coastal resort town. The premises are bright, clean and airy and has gained a reputation with locals and visitors alike for its premium fish and chips and friendly takeaway service.
The extensive menu offers delicious golden crispy chips (premium quality, pre-fried and chilled)
and a wide selection of fish (including cod, haddock, pollock, hake, plaice, scampi, fishcakes). Produce is locally sourced and fish are authenticated with the Marine Stewardship Council blue badge to ensure fish stocks are sustainable. Among further dishes are Burritos, Burgers, Hot Dogs, Topped Nachos, Wraps and an exciting selection of Specials (including Mutha Klukka – succulent spicy Southern fried chicken breast burger). In addition there is a Lite Bite menu and a variety of sides and accompaniments.
An excellent Gluten Free menu is also available and tasty options include chips, choice of fish (cod, hake, haddock, scampi), jumbo sausage, burger (in GF brioche roll), corn nachos, spicy curry sauce, gravy and more besides. Items are cooked in dedicated fryers in a gluten free designated area of the kitchen to avoid cross contamination and served in separate bags. Vegetarian and vegan options are also available and other dietary needs may be accommodated if possible. The helpful and knowledgeable staff are only too happy to answer questions regarding food preparation and ingredients and to advise on menu choice.
The Strange Catch is passionate about environmental issues and operates a zero single use plastic policy and only uses packaging that is compostable or easily recycled.
