About
Designed to resemble a floating lantern, the contemporary award winning Opticon building, which is located in the popular Lanes area of Brighton, is home to the sensational Moshimo Japanese restaurant. The stunning interior is sleek and minimalist with stylish eating areas and a sushi conveyor belt. Walls are inspired by traditional shoji screens which slide open to reveal a canopied decking area with Japanese-style seating, a fantastic place to relax and dine in the warmer months.
Moshimo has established itself as a premier destination for discerning Japanese food lovers who desire an authentic taste of traditional Japanese cuisine with a modern twist. The restaurant’s ethos is based around ‘Clear Conscience Eating’ which insists on using only the freshest fish and seasonal ingredients available to create healthy and elegant dishes which are imaginatively presented. Moshimo is known for its campaign to make fishing more sustainable (FISHLOVE) and is proud to have received the 2019 BRAVO award as Brighton’s most sustainable restaurant. Dietary requirements are well catered for and provide separate gluten free, vegetarian and vegan menus with an extensive range of options. The friendly and extremely knowledgeable staff are more than happy to answer any questions regarding food preparation and ingredients and to offer guidance on menu selection.
Delicious and exciting sushi dishes from the conveyor belt include Maki and Nigiri and are available gluten free, vegetarian and vegan. Prepared to order dishes include Sashimi, Crispy Temaki Handrolls, Gunkan ‘Battleship’ Sushi, and Bowl Sushi. To eat sushi the traditional way opt for ‘Omakase’ Sushi Platters & Boats. Further dishes include a Tempura Platter and the more substantial Donburi & Poke Bowls (best enjoyed with white or brown rice & miso soup). Kozara tapas-style dishes for sharing are a great way to explore new tastes in a sociable and relaxing way. To complete your memorable dining experience there are tempting desserts and accompanying sweet plum wine if wished. An excellent drinks list includes wines, spirits, cocktails and Japanese beers, saké and whisky. With so much choice there is plenty of scope to experiment and enjoy the wonderful food and atmosphere at Moshimo.
