About
Conveniently located on the High Street in the busy market town of Northallerton, Lewis and Cooper is a family run business founded in the 18th-century which continues today in the same premises. Originally a renowned purveyor of exceptionally fine foods, it has developed and much expanded over the years to include a gourmet food hall, delicatessen, wine store, speciality hamper department and traditional tea room. Visitors are welcome to browse these well-stocked departments where the very best of local, artisan, British, continental and world produce is available to purchase including a dedicated area for gluten free products. Beautiful gift baskets and hampers are available to order in store or online and the ‘Create Your Own Hamper’ feature offers a personalised gift that will be much appreciated.
The upstairs Tea Rooms are homely, welcoming and full of character having retained original Victorian fittings such as leaded fireplaces. The menu offers the best of local produce to enjoy and includes freshly ground coffee and premium teas, delicious homemade cakes and scones, light lunches and irresistible desserts. For that extra special treat the renowned Afternoon Tea is not to be missed! Special dietary requirements are also catered for and a separate gluten free menu is provided. The friendly and knowledgeable staff are more than happy to help and answer any questions regarding food preparation and ingredients. GF options include starters (soup of the day with GF bread, or Patchworks Paté with salad & GF crackers). Main courses offer a selection of tasty GF sandwiches, jacket potatoes with filling, or a delicious Goat’s cheese toasted sandwich topped with fig jam and toasted almonds.
