The first Eric’s first fish and chip restaurant opened in Drove Orchards, Thornham on the North Norfolk coast in 2015. Eric’s idea for putting a spin on traditional fish and chips was extremely popular with tourists and locals resulting in the opening of two further Eric’s Fish and Chip restaurants in 2019 in the popular market town of Holt, North Norfolk and here in St.Ives, Cambridgeshire.
The aim, then and now, was to make our favourite fish and chips the way they should be – simple, fresh and tasty using the best local produce. Eric’s St. Ives offers a menu with a mix of traditional items as well as creative extras such as Arancini balls and street food favourites like loaded fries, burgers and hotdogs, all with an Eric’s flavour twist, using quality ingredients. At the heart of the menu will always be the freshest fish (from sustainable sources), traditionally fried chips, battered seafood, mushy peas and classic homemade sauces, all washed down with great beers, wines and refreshments in a relaxed and family-friendly environment.
Those with dietary requirements are also well catered for. To avoid cross-contamination for gluten free a separate dedicated fryer uses rapeseed oil and the batter is made with gluten free flour. A delicious vegetarian option is hand-rolled Arancini Balls made with halloumi, spinach and risotto rice. The friendly and knowledgeable staff are always happy to answer questions regarding food preparation and ingredients and advise on menu choice.
The restaurant also has the option to click and collect via the app, delivery with outsourced partners, as well as vouchers being available and ideal as gifts. The team enjoy hosting lunch and learn sessions with school groups and are keen supporters across the local community with donations to charities such as Homestart, Cambridgeshire.
