About
The family run White Horse country pub and restaurant is located in the heart of the small rural village of Whepstead close to the historic market town of Bury St Edmunds. With origins dating from the 17th-century, the picture postcard building occupies a tranquil setting overlooking a small circular green. The traditional interior retains a feel of country charm with its low beamed ceilings, stone flags and feature brick fireplace with log burner, creating a cosy and welcoming atmosphere. The spacious bar offers a comfortable place to drop in for a casual drink while a choice of eating areas provide relaxed dining surroundings. Outside there is an attractive leafy patio and large secure garden with children’s play area, the perfect spot for friends and family to meet during the warmer months. Dogs are welcome too.
The award winning restaurant (AA Rosette for Culinary Excellence) offers an excellent menu of freshly cooked home-made food, locally sourced whenever possible. Choose from a selection of appetising starters, delicious mains (including steaks, poultry, fish, fish pie, choice of burgers, vegetable lasagne, plus much more), variety of side dishes, and irresistible desserts. Meals are lovingly created and beautifully presented to your table. There is also a menu especially for children and a takeaway service is provided.
The menus cater well for dietary requirements and offer gluten free (GF), vegetarian (V), and vegan (VG) options which are clearly identified. Dishes may also be adapted and are available on request. The friendly and knowledgeable staff are more than happy to answer questions regarding food preparation and ingredients and to advise on menu choice.
Nothing is too much trouble for the team at The White Horse who look forward to ensuring your dining experience will be a memorable one.
