The Eating Gorilla is centrally located in the small town of Penrhyndaedraeth set amid the beautiful scenery of Gwynedd. The former owners of the Castle Inn, Criccieth extend a warm welcome to their family-friendly fully vegan and vegetarian restaurant which has quickly gained a reputation for the quality of the food and excellent service.
Located over two floors, the design is contemporary and stylish with leafy green jungle themed decor making a relaxed and fun atmosphere. To the front of the café a few tables and chairs are shaded by an attractive canopy, the perfect spot to watch the world go by during the warmer months.
The menu offers delicious homemade breakfasts, snacks and lunches which are lovingly prepared and beautifully presented. Starters and side dishes include Cauliflower Wings, Chicken-less Bites, Garlic Bread and choice of dips. Burgers and Not Dogs are served bun-style with choice of filling/topping, chips and homemade coleslaw. Among further creative delights are Greek-style Gyros, Feelgood Fishless Cakes, Hippie Hotpot, Homemade Bean, Lentil & Quinoa Chilli, Curry of the Day, Buddha Bowl, and Dirty Fries & Nachos. An ideal way to sample some of these mouth watering dishes is with the popular Sharing Platter. A tempting selection of irresistible desserts is also a must! An impressive drinks menu offers a selection of speciality teas and coffees, delicious smoothies and shakes, wines (still, sparkling and alcohol-free), beers and ciders, and award winning craft spirits.
Gluten free options are also available and the helpful and knowledgeable team are only too happy to answer any questions regarding food preparation and ingredients and advise on menu choice.
The Eating Gorilla are proud to support the Pole Pole Foundation which works with local communities working in and around the Kahuzi-Biega National Park in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) to improve their prospects and ensure the long term conservation of the Eastern Lowland Grauer’s gorilla.
