This charming family-run traditional pub and restaurant is conveniently located on the High Street in the picturesque Bedfordshire village of Henlow. Originating from an 18th-century inn, The Crown has been tastefully modernised and extended while retaining such character features as beamed ceilings, exposed bricks and a magnificent inglenook fireplace. The walls are decorated with interesting pictures and artefacts creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere and eating areas are cosily arranged to provide intimate dining. Outside there is an attractive beer garden with an abundance of plants and flower tubs, the perfect spot to relax with a drink in the warmer months. A former stable block has been converted into five beautifully appointed en-suite double rooms which have received AA 4 star Gold Award status.
The Crown has gained a reputation for its hospitality and excellent home cooked food. The Head chef and his dedicated team are passionate about providing delicious meals using only premium quality produce. Those with dietary requirements are also well catered for and the menus are clearly marked for vegetarian (V), vegan (VGN) and gluten free (GF). Further options can be adapted on request and these are marked with the addition of (A). The friendly and knowledgeable staff are more than happy to answer any questions regarding food preparation and ingredients. The not-to-be-missed Sunday roast lunch offers GF too, and there is also a breakfast menu and one for children.
Menu choices provide a great range of nibbles, starters, sharers and burgers. Daily chalk boards offer a choice of meat and fish from the Josper Grill, and mains include many traditional favourites. A variety of sides are available plus an irresistible choice of desserts, ice creams and sorbets. There is an excellent cheese board and perhaps a tempting after dinner cocktail to complete your enjoyable dining experience at The Crown.
